Malaysian Swimming Federation launches Youth Diver Fast Track Program in Bukit Jalil

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 – The Malaysian Swimming Federation (MAS) has launched a young athlete program aimed at identifying and developing potential divers under the age of 11 as a strategic measure to revitalize performance in the diving sport. Announced the start of the fast track program. The initiative is part of a wider diving sports recovery plan approved at last Thursday’s Diving Sports Working Committee meeting.

Reviving the dream of diving

The decision to launch this ambitious program follows a series of dominant performances by Malaysian divers at the recent World Aquatics Championships in Doha. MAS is taking concrete steps to overhaul its training and development paradigm for future success. The Young Athletes Fast Track program aims to identify emerging talent from across the country and provide them with full-time training opportunities at the acclaimed Bukit Jalil Sports Facility. This move underlines MAS’s commitment to not only developing future champions but also ensuring that Malaysia’s diving sports scene regains its former glory on the international stage.

Holistic development approach

Apart from the fast-track program for young divers, the diving sport recovery plan includes four other main elements. These include enhanced coaching methodologies, state-of-the-art training facilities, a strong support system for athletes, and an array of competition platforms to test and hone their skills. By implementing these multifaceted strategies, MAS aims to create an environment where young talents can grow and excel in diving. The federation believes that by catching them young and providing them with intensive and intense training, Malaysia can once again become a powerhouse in the world of water sports.

For the future

The introduction of the Fast Track program for young athletes at Bukit Jalil is a testament to MAS’s proactive stance in addressing the recent setbacks faced by divers in Malaysia. By laying a solid foundation for the development of young talent, the federation is optimistic about restoring Malaysia’s competitiveness in diving. As these young divers grow and mature under the guidance of experienced coaches and a supportive training regime, the future of diving in Malaysia looks brighter than ever. With the right combination of talent, training and tenacity, the Malaysian diving sport scene is set to take a huge leap forward on the world stage in the coming years.
