A 19-year-old man was killed and a firefighter was injured in a massive fire Monday night in Clinton Township, Michigan, north of Detroit.

The explosion caused by the butane tank sent debris flying as far as 1 mile (1.6 km) away. Officials said the victim was killed by the flying canister and died about a quarter of a mile (0.4 km) from the scene.

The scene of the fire was a warehouse that stores products such as e-cigarette products and phone accessories.

The fire was extinguished as of early Tuesday morning. The cause is under investigation, officials said.
