AIFF names 26 candidates for U23 camp ahead of Malaysia tour

NEW DELHI: The AIFF on Thursday named 26 candidates for India’s U-23 camp ahead of two friendly matches against Malaysia on March 22 and 25 in Kuala Lumpur.

Camp for the leading teams will begin in New Delhi on Friday, with the final squad of 23 players heading to Kuala Lumpur on March 20.

Naushad Moosa, a former India international and currently an assistant coach at Northeast United FC, has been appointed as the head coach.

Noel Wilson will be the assistant coach and Dipankar Chowdhury will be the team’s goalkeeping coach.

India U23 potential:

Goalkeeper: Arsh Anwer Shaikh, Prabhuskan Singh Gill, Vishal Yadav.

Defenders: Bikash Yamnam, Chingambam Shivard Singh, Hormipam Ruiba, Narender, Robin Yadav, Sandip Mandy.

Midfielders: Abhishek Sooryavanshi, Bryson Fernandes, Mark Zotampuia, Mohammed Aymen, Pijam Sanatoi Meetei, Toiba Singh Moirangsem, Bibin Mohanan.

Forwards: Abdul Rabi, Gurkirat Singh, Irfan Yadwad, Isaac Vanlalruatfera, Kumantem Ninthuingamba Meetei, Mohammed Sanan, Parthiv Sundar Gogoi, Samir Murmu, Sivathakthi Narayanan, Vishnu. Putiya Valapil.
