Germany’s Mr. Barbock meets with Egypt’s Mr. Shoukry and talks about the Gaza crisis

German Foreign Minister Annalena Verbock met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo on Monday for another round of crisis talks as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip becomes increasingly dire.

Barbock has been campaigning for weeks for a humanitarian ceasefire to free Israeli hostages still held by Islamist Hamas and allow aid to be delivered to the Gaza Strip.

At the beginning of a nearly two-day trip to the Middle East, Mr. Bourbock called for Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement on a temporary ceasefire.

“Only an immediate humanitarian ceasefire leading to a permanent ceasefire can keep hopes for peace alive for Palestinians and Israelis alike,” Barbock said on Sunday.
