Government not ready to help actress Jasmine Suraya pursue masters in Los Angeles

kuala lumpur: The government is willing to consider supporting actress Jasmine Suraya Ching Xian Mei, 35, to continue pursuing her master’s degree at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles, USA.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fazil said his ministry stands ready to evaluate and support Jasmine Suraya if deemed appropriate.

“We need to assess and see what we can help with, but in general for anyone pursuing artistic studies in any field, be it film, music, theater or painting, it is not easy or financially “I understand that it’s not going to take a lot of effort,” he said.

He told reporters after launching the CSR Ramadan Initiative and Lembah Pantai Perdana Iftar with Foodpanda Malaysia and collaborative partners at IWK Eco Park in Pantai Dalam here yesterday.

It was previously reported that Jasmine Suraya was forced to sell some of her personal belongings, including her car, to cover the RM400,000 cost of the one-year program starting in April.

Jasmine Suraya is the first Malaysian to be admitted to the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. – Bernama
