India U23s draw second friendly against Malaysia at Cricketmore

KUALA LUMPUR FOOTBALL STADIUM: India U-23 Men’s National Team defeated hosts Malaysia U-23 National Team 1-1 in the second friendly at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. It was a draw. Both goals came in the second half. With this, the India U23 team has completed their friendly tour with two FIFA window matches in Malaysia. In the first game last week, the Blue Colts lost 2-1 at the same venue.

On Monday night, Malaysia U23s took the lead through Abhishek Suryavanshi’s own goal in the 48th minute. India U23s came from behind with a goal from M Toiba Singh in the 62nd minute to equalize.

India head coach Naushad Moosa, himself a former India international defender, has made changes from the starting eleven that played in the first friendly.

He said, “It was important to give equal opportunities to all players. It helped us see the potential of players at international level.”

The coach said: “All the players were fit and had a positive mindset. The four-day camp in Delhi was really great and the players all adapted to the style we want to play.”
