Ministry provides financial assistance to PAWE

Kuching: The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) is encouraging the establishment of Elderly Activity Centers (PAWE) in Sarawak.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said there were only 13 activity centers for the elderly in Sarawak and the number was insufficient to accommodate the elderly here.

“Therefore, we will encourage the community to establish PAWE and provide support for this initiative.

“But before you can apply for assistance, you need to establish a center first,” she says.

She said this at a press conference at the Rama Mesra rally KPWKM with target groups at Wisma Sabati here today.

Following this, she said the assistance rate given would not exceed RM100,000 per year and this would also be based on applications.

As a reminder, Deputy Community Welfare and Development Minister Mohamad Raji Sitam has previously stressed the need to establish PAWEs in each district as Sarawak moves towards an aging population by 2030. Was.

Nancy noted that the event was attended by a total of over 3,000 guests consisting of target groups such as PAWE, Child Protection Team (PPKK), Child Welfare Team (PKKK), Divisional Social Welfare Office (PKMB), etc. did.

“This is also an opportunity for us to approach our target group and get to know them, and also an opportunity for us to work with volunteer groups so they can get to know each other,” she said.
