136 tennis talents will participate in the 40th Premier Sarawak Cup

Kuching: A total of 136 players from 28 countries will be participating in the 40th Premier Sarawak Cup International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Junior J300.

Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamza said the event will begin from April 22 to 28.

“The live scoring and streaming provided by Sarawak Clone Tennis Association (SLTA) will allow people all over the world to watch the matches and raise Kuching’s profile through increased social media exposure,” he said today ( (April 22) Speaking at a press conference at Baitul Makmur Building 2.

He reflected on a vibrant month for local tennis, noting that the Sarawak Cup was the conclusion of a series of four international tournaments held consecutively from March 15.

The events began with the ITF World Team Junior Competition U14, which featured participants from 28 countries, and concluded with the ITF Asia Under-14 Development Final, which featured participants from 22 countries.

Abdul Karim also thanked the financial support from the ITF and Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), which provided a grant of RM600,000 to support these events.

“This valuable support has helped us improve the quality of our tournaments, provide a world-class experience, and generate over 3 million yen in revenue,” he said.
