Political stability boosts Malaysia’s status as an investment destination — Anwar

MALAKA (April 22): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia has attracted the world’s attention as a major investment destination due to its political stability and clear economic policies.

Anwar said policies such as digital transformation, national energy transition roadmap and new industry master plan 2030 are helping investors understand the country’s strengths.

“Malaysia is currently attracting investment from companies such as Infineon and Nvidia and needs around 30,000 engineers, but we cannot adequately accommodate them.

“Parents and Malay children must therefore focus on science and mathematics, as well as TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) fields. It is being vigorously promoted by Dr. Zahid Hamidi,” he said.

He was speaking at the Malacca state-level Aidilfitri Madani 2024 celebrations held at the Malacca International Trade Center (MITC) in Ayer Khelo here on Monday night.

Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Ahmad Zahid and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Abu Rauf Yuso were also present.

President Anwar therefore called on all parties at all levels to change their attitudes and mindsets to prevent the country from falling behind in various aspects.

“I sincerely hope that attitudes and mindsets change. Otherwise, we will fall behind because we fight and argue over small things at the expense of the essential issues. . We will fall behind not only among our competing races, but also among other races.”

“We don’t want our people to be left behind and lose out in this race because we’re dealing with trivial issues,” he said.

Mr Anwar said the government intends to establish a new AI-based faculty at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) following previous talks with Taiwan-based companies.
