Weinstein to appear in court after conviction quashed

Last week, the New York State Court of Appeals ruled that the judge overseeing former Hollywood mogul Weinstein’s case erred by allowing testimony from women who had raised allegations against him for which he was not charged. I put it down. The judges “erroneously admitted unaccused testimony about alleged past sexual acts with persons other than those accused of the underlying crimes,” the appellate court ruled in a 4-3 vote. The judgment also said the trial judge compounded the error by handing down an unfair sentence. Mr. Weinstein will be cross-examined in a way that portrays him in a “very biased” light.
