Malaysia is considering plans to establish the country’s first textile manufacturing hub as part of efforts to revive the industry. Mr Tan said it may be difficult to get local companies to relocate their existing operations, but companies will be able to compensate with sufficient incentives.

The hub could be managed by FMFTA or industry stakeholders through a public-private partnership with the government, he added.
