Microsoft announces AI investments in three Southeast Asian countries: Details
microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced that the company will invest in three South Asian countries. Investments include building cloud and AI digital infrastructure; AI skills opportunities, support the developer community.Nadella is currently on tour Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Microsoft investment in Malaysia

Microsoft has announced that it will invest $2.2 billion over the next four years to support Malaysia’s digital transformation. This is the biggest investment in his 32-year history in Malaysia. As part of the investment, Microsoft will:

  • Building cloud and AI infrastructure in Malaysia
  • Creating AI skills opportunities for 200,000 more people in Malaysia
  • Strengthen partnership with the Malaysian government to establish a national AI center of excellence and strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Supporting the growth of the Malaysian developer community.

“We are committed to supporting Malaysia’s AI transformation and ensuring that it benefits all Malaysians. Our investments in digital infrastructure and skills will support Malaysian businesses, communities, It will help developers apply the latest technology to drive inclusive economic growth and innovation across the country,” Nadella said.

Microsoft’s investment in Thailand

The investment announcement comes a day after the company pledged to build new cloud and AI infrastructure in Thailand. Microsoft said it will provide more than 100,000 people with the opportunity to gain AI skills and support the country’s growing developer community.
Nadella made the announcement in front of approximately 2,000 developers and business and technology leaders at Microsoft Build: AI Day in Bangkok. Thai Prime Minister Suretta Thabisin also attended on this day.

Microsoft’s investment in Indonesia

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced it would invest $1.7 billion over the next four years in new cloud and AI infrastructure in Indonesia. Additionally, the company plans to provide 840,000 people with the opportunity to acquire AI skills and support the growing developer community in the country. This is the largest single investment in Microsoft’s 29-year history in the United States.
