6-month peace guarantee for workplace assault

Kuching: A magistrates court here has sentenced a 22-year-old local man to six months’ peacekeeping after he punched a co-worker who had reprimanded him at work.

Chong Wee Hong, 22, admitted the charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), which was read out by Justice Mason Jaro Renya Balayan.

He committed the crime at a grocery store in Jarancon on April 28 at around 8:15 p.m.

According to details of the incident, Chung punched the victim in the right cheek and brandished a knife during the incident.

The victim sustained minor injuries and filed a police report, which led to further investigation.

An investigation revealed that the assault occurred after the victim scolded Chung for his work performance.

To prevent further incidents, the court ordered Mr Chong to keep the peace for six months and set his bail at RM500.
