Man fined RM1,000 for illegally selling fireworks

Kuching: A 31-year-old man was sentenced to a RM1,000 fine or six months’ imprisonment by a local magistrate court for operating an unauthorized business selling 72 boxes of various types of fireworks and firecrackers. Ta.

Fahmi Ashkin Saleh, 31, pleaded guilty before Justice Mason Jaro Lenya Balayan to charges under Section 3, Section 1 of the Business, Profession and Trade Licensing Ordinance 1958.

According to the charges, Fahmi committed the crime at around 10:45 pm on April 3 at a shop in Jalan Bazaar, Satok.

The facts of the case show that on the day of the incident, a police team searched the business premises and found them selling and storing firecrackers and fireworks without valid permits.

Fahmi was arrested and 72 boxes of firecrackers and several other types of firecrackers were seized.

Investigation revealed that Fahmi was involved in selling firecrackers and fireworks without a valid license or permit.

The prosecutor, Inspector Merrilene Lindang Andrew Mang, was in charge of the prosecution, but Fahmi had no legal representation.
