US suspends arms supplies to Israel for the first time

The Axios portal reported, citing unnamed Israeli officials, that the US had stopped sending ammunition and weapons to Tel Aviv for the first time since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.

“Israeli officials said ammunition supplies to Israel were stopped last week,” the portal said.

He noted that this is the first supply outage since October last year, when Hamas attacked Israel.

He stressed that the suspension caused “serious concerns” to the Israeli government.

Last Friday, 88 Democratic members of the US House of Representatives called on President Joe Biden to consider cutting off arms supplies to Israel if the Israeli government does not change its management of the war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

In a letter to the White House, the members of Congress expressed “serious concerns about the Israeli government’s management of the war in Gaza related to intentional detentions and delays in humanitarian assistance.”

They stressed that restrictions imposed by Israel on the delivery of Washington-backed humanitarian aid to Gaza “contributed to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe for the population.”
