KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) — Domestic men’s professional player Team June Wei said the national team has an advantage in the first round match against Hong Kong in the 2024 Thomas Cup tournament to be held in Chengdu, China. . Saturday.

June Wei, 27, who left BAM in 2021 to pursue a solo career, was excited to return to take advantage of the full facilities provided by the academy.

“Malaysia has an advantage in the lineup rankings, so don’t think too much about it and just concentrate. The atmosphere (at BAM) is very positive.”

“Even Mr Wong Chun Han, former BAM singles coaching director and current Hong Kong men’s singles coach, doesn’t think their team spirit is stronger than ours because Malaysia is better in team spirit,” he said today. He told reporters here at ABM.

June Wei, who is currently ranked 63rd in the world, was asked if she was ready to meet Chan Ying Chak (world No. 92) or Jason Gunawan (world No. 95) and answered that she was not at all afraid to meet them. I said no.

He added that apart from participating in team tournaments and representing the country, one can also improve one’s career as a professional player.

“For us independent players, participating in major tournaments can impress sponsors and expand our careers,” said June Wei, who is currently injury-free.

BAM has announced that the country’s challengers for the 2024 Thomas Cup will be Lee Gee Jia, Leung Jun Hao, Chem June Wei, Justin Ho, Aaron Chia-Saw Woo-ik, and Goh Se Fei-Nur. Izuddin Lumsani and Muhammad Haykal Nazri-Chun Hong Jian were listed. The team was then placed in Group D, the same European champions as 2016 champions Denmark, Hong Kong and Algeria.
