CEO candidate identified for Brunei’s Sarawak Trade and Tourism Board

Bandar Seri Begawan: The Sarawak state government has identified a candidate for the post of chief executive officer (CEO) of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Board Brunei (STATOB).

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the CEO would oversee the operations of the STATOB office which is expected to open in the near future.

He hoped the opening of the office would strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation between Brunei and Sarawak.

“I am confident that cooperation between the two governments in various sectors, especially trade and tourism, will bring prosperity and mutual prosperity,” he said.

He was speaking at a dinner attended by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Ja’afar, his wife Tor Puan Fauzia Mohamed Sanusi and other Sarawak natives at the Malaysian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam last night (June 23).

Awang Tengah also said that Wan Junaidi’s working visit to Brunei Darussalam was significant and would further strengthen the already close ties between Brunei and Sarawak.

“The close relationship between Brunei and Sarawak is very important not only because we are neighbours but also to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, investment and especially socio-economic development,” he said.
