Malaysia Cultural Week 2024 to strengthen Malaysia-China ties – MOTAC

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) — The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will hold the Malaysian Cultural Week 2024 from June 26 to 30 in Urumqi city, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China.

In a statement today, the ministry said the event was in line with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China and was a government initiative to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

“Through MOTAC, Malaysia will host the promotion of Malaysian arts, culture and heritage, and indirectly provide an opportunity for Chinese people, especially those in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to explore, understand and appreciate the richness of our country.”

“Following the theme ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’, the Malaysia Pavilion will showcase the country’s unique arts, culture and traditions through exhibitions, food and craft demonstrations, tourism product sales and promotion, a business-to-business session titled ‘Matchmaking Conference to Boost Economic and Trade Cooperation’ and cultural performances throughout the five-day programme,” the ministry said, adding that the programme, which is being held in conjunction with the China Eurasia Expo, will be led by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

The ministry said it hoped the programme would serve as a platform to promote Malaysia Tourism 2026 in China as well as the country’s unique arts and culture.
