M’sian Family In SG Appeals For Help After Elderly Dad Suffers Stroke While Driving

According to the eldest son, Nizam Aziz, his father, Aziz Sharif, and his mother, Zaleha Maksum, were on their usual weekly drive from Johor to Singapore to visit him and his siblings when the incident happened.

“It was a trip my parents made every week with joy and anticipation, eager to spend time with their children and grandchildren,” he shared on crowdfunding platform, GIVE.Asia.

Unfortunately, on 1 June, Nizam said his elderly father suffered a major stroke while he was driving, causing the car to skid off the road and crash into a covered walkway in Yishun.

His 74-year-old mother, who was in the front passenger seat, died at the scene, while his 76-year-old father was sent unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for emergency treatment.

The son said his father had sustained severe injuries such as broken ribs and internal bleeding, as well as brain injuries caused by the stroke, and required breathing support in the intensive care unit (ICU).
