Sarawak awards commemorative medals to distinguished recipients

Kuching: A total of 189 people were awarded Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medals to mark the 60th anniversary of Sarawak’s independence.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg presented the medals at a ceremony held at the State Legislative Complex (DUN) today (July 4).

The ceremony began with the awarding of the Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medals (Gold) (Pingat Peringatan Cemerlang Jubli Intan Emas) to five recipients.

Topping the list was Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Datuk Sri Mohamed Zuki Ali, followed by Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Murshid Diraja Dr Juanda Jaya.

Other gold medal winners were Malaysian powerlifting champions Bonnie Bunyaw Gasting and Datuk Chin Jiu Bui.

A total of 184 winners were then presented with Diamond Jubilee Excellence Commemorative Silver Medals, including Datuk Safeeri Ali, Datuk Hee Chan Kee, Sahibul Samaha, Datuk Kipri ​​Yasin, Datuk Major General Hassan Embong, Datuk CP Mancha Atta and Datuk Seri Mohd.
