The RM2.033 billion, 285-metre access road project is expected to be completed by Sept 15.

Kuching: The new access road project linking Stapok Utama traffic light near SJK(C) Chung Hua Primary School No. 6 to Ensing Timur township is expected to be completed by Sept 15.

The project, which is approximately 285 metres long and cost RM2,023,919, is 65.74 per cent complete.

Amal Deputy Prime Minister Dr Sim Kui Hian said in a statement that the government is actively planning and securing funding for the development project to ease increasing traffic volumes.

“This project is important for both main roads and dispersal roads around residential areas. It aims to ensure a smooth transition from residential areas to main roads,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of contractors adhering to schedules in order to deliver benefits to the public as soon as possible.

Dr Sim reiterated the Federal Government’s responsibility and obligation to provide a better and more comprehensive transport system in Sarawak, taking into account the road tax contribution from Sarawakians.

“The Sarawak state government has discharged its responsibilities by implementing a number of development projects.

“Apart from the new access road mentioned, the planned second Batu Kawah Bridge and the new two-lane road are also part of the Sarawak government’s efforts to provide better infrastructure for the people of Sarawak,” he added.
