Kyrie Jackson: Minnesota Vikings rookie dies in car accident

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Kyrie Jackson has died at the age of 24 in a car accident.

Jackson, a rookie, and two former high school teammates, Isaiah Hazell and Anthony Litton Jr., died early Saturday morning in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The Dodge Charger they were traveling in collided with another vehicle that was attempting to change lanes at a high rate of speed.

“We’re absolutely shocked by this news,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said.

“Kylie brought an infectious energy to our facility and team, and his confidence and engaging personality quickly drew his teammates to him.

“In our short time together, it was clear that Kyrie was going to develop into a fantastic professional soccer player, but what was even more impressive was his desire to be the best person he could be for his family and those around him.”

A statement from the Vikings read: “We are heartbroken by the news of Kylee Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident.

“Our hearts go out to Kylie’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, and all of the victims of this tragic accident.”

Jackson was selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft in April but has yet to play in a game.
