Parkim Sarawak holds charity run for Raila Stroke Care Centre

Kuching: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (Perkim) Sarawak will be holding a charity run on September 15 at the Sarawak State Library grounds.

Deputy Economy Minister and Parkim Sarawak chairman Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the aim of the run was to raise funds to support and improve the operational costs of the Railah Stroke Care Centre here.

“The marathon is open to everyone and we are targeting about 2,000 participants for the Parkim Sarawak Charity Half Marathon 2024,” she said at a press conference held at a hotel here on Sunday (July 7).

Hanifa further said the race will also include a 21km half marathon, a 10km run and fun run categories of 5km and 3km distances.

“The winners of the men’s and women’s 21km category will receive a cash prize of RM2,000 each, while the winners of the men’s and women’s 10km category will receive a cash prize of RM1,000 each,” she said.

She added that apart from these prizes, participants will also have a chance to win various attractive prizes and raffle prizes.

Registration can be done online. Type “Perkim” into your search engine or contact the Perkim Sarawak Office manually.

The registration deadline is August 15th.

Among those attending the press conference was organising committee chairman Datin Azerina Mohd Alip.

Meanwhile, early 2023, Parkim Sarawak took over full management of the Stroke Care Centre previously managed by Norma Medical Specialist Centre.

Known as Laila Stroke Care Centre, the facility is located at Jalan Kereta Api and provides affordable follow-up physiotherapy treatment for stroke patients, ensuring those with limited financial resources can receive the rehabilitation they need in a comfortable environment.

Since taking over, Parkim Sarawak has undertaken several improvements to improve the centre’s physical condition and the quality of services.
