Mini eSports Con in Parliament: Recognising Malaysia’s eSports Industry

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) — The first Mini Esports Con was held at Parliament House today, bringing together electronic sports (eSports) stakeholders from leading local and international game publishers.

Esports Integrated (ESI) said the event was organised to celebrate Malaysia’s dynamic and rapidly expanding esports industry.

Additionally, it also provided a platform for networking sessions between stakeholders from the esports industry and lawmakers, particularly Members of Parliament (MPs).

“I would like to thank all the MPs who attended and others who came together to support Mini Esports Con at Parliament.

“This event is an important milestone in recognizing the potential of esports as a dynamic and influential industry. We hope that the incentives will be well received and give policymakers a clearer picture of the expanding landscape of esports,” Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Adam Adli Abd Halim said in a statement.

Organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through ESI, Mini Esports Con was co-organised by the Malaysian Electronics Sports Federation (MESF), Moonton, Tencent, Raceroom Asia, Gamesbond, Ammobox Studios, Kaigan Games and Todak Studios.

The activities included an introductory session on e-sports and a gaming demonstration session where attendees could get hands-on with various game titles.

Mini EsportsCon also saw the launch of the National Esports Development Guidelines (NESDEG), developed to support the implementation of strategies under the National Electronic Sports Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

“MESF also introduced Esports MedicA, an initiative created to provide education and health-related advisory services to industry participants, especially athletes,” it added.
