Towngas lights up costume runway

The Hong Kong and China Gas Company – or Towngas – has supported a Chinese costume design completion as a partner organization, encouraging young people to promote green fashion.

Students from primary schools, secondary schools, and tertiary institutions used augmented reality technology to create their own designs of qipao and other Chinese costumes in the first Hong Kong Digital Qipao and Chinese National Costumes Design Competition this year. Simply working with paper layout and using technology, students can easily convert their paper designs into 3D animated dresses.

The competition was jointly organized by the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong and tech firm ConnectAR. Over 400 students from 77 schools participated in the competition.

Meanwhile, HK Electric also launched a green fashion design competition on Saturday to turn unwanted items into fashionable new outfits.
