Commander in Chief vows to strengthen border security

KuchingThe 3rd Infantry Brigade has pledged to make Sarawak’s security a top priority, especially in light of the looming relocation of Indonesia’s capital to Nusantara.

Brigadier General Mohamed Saufie Omar, commander of 3rd Infantry Brigade/40 Brigade, said this was in line with concerns raised by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Ja’afar on security issues and the potential indirect impact on Sarawak.

“Wan Junaidi takes Sarawak’s security issues very seriously, given plans to move Indonesia’s capital to Nusantara and the potential impact it will have on the state.”

“This could also lead to positive factors in terms of the economy, development and so on.

“The Sarawak governor hopes that this issue will be taken into consideration so that security aspects are ensured even after the relocation,” the governor said after paying a courtesy call on Wan Junaidi in Sarawak’s Astana city today (July 9).

The visit marks Brigadier General Mohamed Saoufi’s first meeting with a head of state since assuming command of the 3rd Infantry Brigade on May 31 this year.

Also present were Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Fawzia Mohamed Sanusi, and Mohamed Saufis’ wife, Dayan Satya Awang See.
