Macao Government Tourism Office Completes Successful Roadshow Celebrating Macanese Culture at Sunway Pyramid in Malaysia

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently concluded its highly successful “Experience Macao” roadshow, held from July 5 to 8 at the Blue Concourse of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The four-day event, in collaboration with the local travel industry and Malaysian tourism operators, highlighted the “Tourism+” initiative and showcased Macao’s vibrant tourism offerings.

The roadshow attracted 268,000 participants over the extended weekend, highlighting Macau’s status as Malaysia’s fourth-largest international tourist market. In partnership with the Guangdong-Macau Deepening Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau in Hengqin and Macau’s integrated resort companies, the event featured themed booths, interactive games and special travel packages.

Attendees were treated to mesmerizing performances, dynamic dance routines and magical displays by artistes from Malaysia and Macanese. Interactive activities such as prize games and stamp collecting added to the festive atmosphere, while daily grand raffles offered exciting prizes including air tickets, hotel stays and spa treatments.

Apart from the fascinating on-site activities, MGTO also fostered productive business discussions at the “Macau Tourism + MICE Product Update Seminar & Travel Mart”, which attracted over 110 industry leaders from Macau and Malaysia. The forum aimed to strengthen partnerships to attract both leisure travellers and MICE event (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) attendees.

To amplify its impact, MGTO adopted an intense promotional strategy spanning social media, local TV, radio, newspapers and various online platforms. Collaborations with Malaysian celebrities and influencers further raised Macau’s profile, resulting in an astounding amount of exposure with a cumulative 31.2 million views by the end of the roadshow.

MGTO remains committed to expanding its reach to short-haul destinations, with a strategic focus on international markets and enhanced air connectivity. Events like the Malaysia Roadshow play a vital role in MGTO’s overarching mission to diversify Macau’s tourism destinations and foster regional cooperation, closely aligning with the SAR Government’s economic development strategy.

Moving forward, MGTO will continue to integrate innovative “Tourism+” initiatives, expand market diversity, and strengthen Macau’s position as a leading global tourist destination through ongoing initiatives and strategic partnerships.
