U-19 National Team draws 2-2 with Cambodia

kuala lumpur: Cambodia’s under-19 (U-19) national football team played to a 2-2 draw in a behind closed doors training match at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam yesterday.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said in a Facebook post that the visitors had taken the lead after seven minutes thanks to a penalty kick by Lim Luk Ka Tong.

Malaysia fought back and attacked, and their efforts paid off when Muhammad Rizwan equalized in the 37th minute. However, the joy was short-lived as Puuk Thatai restored Cambodia’s lead three minutes later.

Heikal Danish scored from a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to earn Malaysia a draw.

The U-19 National Team began a week-long intensive training camp on July 7 in preparation for the 2024 ASEAN U-19 Championship to be held from July 17 to 29 in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Malaysia will kick off their campaign in Group C against Brunei on July 19, followed by Singapore on July 22. Both matches will be played at Gelora Stadium before taking on Thailand at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on July 25.

The group winners and the best group runners-up will advance to the semi-finals on July 27. The third-place match and the final will be played on July 29. – BERNAMA
