Building a fulfilling education system | News Sarawak Tribune

Kuching: The Sarawak State Government is committed to building an inclusive education ecosystem that benefits educators and students.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government had allocated its own funds to renovate dilapidated schools across Sarawak.

“The Sarawak state government will spend its own funds to develop and improve 100 such schools in Sarawak. The federal government will then reimburse us for the costs we have spent. This will speed up the upgrade process as it will reduce the number of manual processes,” he said at the national Persatuan Professional Sipartners Malaysia (Prisma) Conference 2024 today (May 7).

In addition to school improvements, the state government used its own funds to develop five international schools.

“Apart from national schools, we want our children to speak other languages fluently and learn the Cambridge syllabus. “We want to offer students the opportunity to study at a prestigious university that specializes in new technologies,” he added.

Abang Johari emphasized the need for children to be skilled in new technologies such as hydrogen production and algae-based biofuel production to drive the state’s development.

“To drive this sector forward, we need kids skilled in new technologies such as hydrogen production and algae-based biofuel production,” he says.
