PARIS: Fashion magazine Vogue announced on Monday that it will bring together France’s top luxury brands for a one-off show in the run-up to the opening of the Paris Olympics.

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour told AFP that the outdoor show “will be a combination of a fashion show, entertainment, performances and a few surprises.”

The event will be held on June 23, International Olympic Day, a little more than a month before the city hosts the Olympics.

Participants include France’s Jacquemus and Balmain, as well as Louis Vuitton, where hip-hop star Pharrell Williams is currently creative director.

“It’s rare for us to be together like this,” Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing said at a press conference announcing the event.

“I have to say that taking over the Place Vendôme is pretty legendary,” Williams said, adding that the show was “in true French style: what you see on the podium, what you see on the boulevard, all inclusive. He added that the spotlight will be on “in the spirit of

It was designed as a homage to 100 years of French fashion, as a century has passed since the city last hosted the Olympics in 1924.

Wintour called this the third Vogue Worldwide event, following similar large parties held in New York and London to help the legendary magazine maintain its aura as print sales decline. It was described as an event.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will be held on the Seine River on July 26th.
