Jordan and Iraq score first Asian Cup wins as Malaysia and Indonesia are eliminated – Sports

Both West Asian teams combined to defeat Malaysia 4-0 in the Asia Cup, while Iraq defeated Indonesia 3-1 on Monday.

With four goals scored in each game, Jordan’s big win put them at the top of Group E. 3-1 victory over Bahrain in the early hours of Monday.

Iraq’s Mohanad Ali beat the keeper to score the first goal, but Marcelino Ferdinan equalized after some fine work from Jacob Sayuri. Sayuri evaded the challenge and crossed the ball into the six-yard box for an easy goal.

However, Iraq broke Indonesia’s bubble late in stoppage time just before the interval, with Osama Rashid scoring from close range after the keeper spilled a save.

Substitute Aymen Hussain then scored a header in the 75th minute and then volleyed home from the edge of the six-yard box to make it 3-1.
