Bangkok Post – Malaysia also aims to attract top programs with tax incentives

Following the Taylor Swift phenomenon in Singapore, Malaysia is also joining the regional race to attract concerts and other events to Thailand.

According to Bernama News Agency, Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Minister Fahmi Fazil said the Malaysian government is working with other agencies, including the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, to provide tax breaks and facilities needed to attract music shows and other events. He said he would provide it.

The minister named it the “Concerts and Events in Malaysia” proposal.

“It’s not just about providing rebates, it’s also about making events run smoother, easier and faster, and making sure we have enough facilities for the types of events we want to attract.” He is said to have stated.

Malaysia is the second country after Thailand to show recent interest in hosting international music performances and other entertainment. This follows Singapore’s huge success in signing Taylor Swift to perform at an exclusive concert during her Southeast Asia tour.

Summer Sonic, a Japanese music festival, will be held in Bangkok in August. The government also announced that Tomorrowland, the famous electronic dance music festival, will be held in 2026, but organizers said the proposal was still under consideration.
